Scholarships Available
The Northeast Iowa Chapter of AFP would like to encourage you to consider joining this group of fundraising professionals and have made available the following scholarships:
General Chapter Scholarship: Individuals may submit a request using the Northeast Iowa Chapter's Scholarship Application Form. Scholarship funds will be made available for all membership levels and Chapter and National AFP events. Each year the board of directors will approve a scholarship fund within the annual budget, limiting the maximum funds available for all scholarship awards during the fiscal year. The Scholarship Committee will have full discretion of the amount and type of each scholarship awarded.
Chamberlain Scholarship: One scholarship of a registration fee to the annual AFP ICON Conference. The recipient will be required
to pay $10 and their own travel expenses. Applicants must never have attended the international conference as a registered participant.
CFRE/ACFRE Exam Sponsorship: One scholarship of $75 toward the CFRE/ACFRE. This will be paid
the recipient after the individual provides proof of payment for the exam in total.

We accept scholarship applications throughout the year.
We require scholarship recipients to provide materials to the chapter from the course, conference, or workshop attended. We may invite recipients to provide a presentation to the Chapter although scholarship recipients may decline without repercussion.
Each scholarship recipient must provide one year of service to the Chapter in a role of their choosing (board member, committee member, officer, etc.).

Membership Categories
Professional
Full membership in the Association shall be open to individuals (a) who, among other responsibilities, hold some
degree of
accountability for income-generation within the fundraising process; (b) who must hold some
degree of
responsibility directly for fundraising; (c) who are compensated
for their services; and (d) who subscribe to the AFP Code of Ethical Standards and promote the Donor Bill of Rights. Active members in good standing may vote, serve on chapter
or Association committees and task forces and hold Association or chapter office. $280.00 plus chapter dues.
Young Professional Membership
Young Professional: Open to persons who hold some
degree of
responsibility directly for fundraising, work within the U.S. and Canada and are compensated
for their services, and are 30 years old or younger, must subscribe to the AFP Code of Ethical Standards and promote the Donor Bill of Rights and be employed
, or have been employed
by an organization that provides benefits to society. $95 ($65.00 plus $30.00 chapter dues).
Retired
Retired membership in the Association shall be open to individuals who no longer practice as paid fundraising professionals but who, at the time they seek Retired Member status, have been Professional members of the Association for the immediate past five consecutive years and subscribe to the AFP Code of Ethical Standards and promote the Donor Bill of Rights. Retired members in good standing may vote, serve on chapter boards, committees and task forces, as well as
Association committees and task forces, but may not hold any Association office. $75.00 plus chapter dues.
Associate Membership
Associate membership in the Association shall be open to individuals or volunteers (a) who are engaged in fields related to fundraising and fundraising support, or (b) who have mutual interests with fundraising professionals, and (c) who subscribe to the AFP Code of Ethical Standards and promote the Donor Bill of Rights. Associate members in good standing may vote, serve on chapter
or Association committees and task forces and hold Association or chapter office. $280.00 plus chapter dues.
AFP Nonprofit Organizational Membership - Large
AFP’s Nonprofit Organizational Memberships champion effective and ethical fundraising, promote philanthropy and charitable giving and grow the fundraising profession. A Nonprofit Organizational Membership will provide long-term value to the profession through broader representation in our public policy initiatives. Nonprofit Organizational Membership also brings public recognition of an organization’s commitment to foster ethical standards and professionalism in fundraising.
Shall be open to nonprofit organizations who wish to have multiple members in the association. The organization will designate a minimum of eight (8) to receive Professional member benefits. The memberships may be transferred
to another individual if the original member leaves the organization. Must subscribe to the AFP Code of Ethical Standards and promote the Donor Bill of Rights. Nonprofit Organizational members in good standing may vote, serve on chapter
or Association committees and task forces and hold Association or chapter office. Starting at $2,200 for eight members.
AFP Nonprofit Organizational Membership - Small
Open to nonprofit organizations who can answer yes to all the following criteria:
- Must be a nonprofit organization – individuals, consultants and for-profit entities may apply for a different category
- An operating budget of less than $1,000,000
- A fundraising department with less than two (2) Full time equivalent (FTE) staff
- Individually incorporated or otherwise organized as a separate entity in the laws of the specific country; and
- Not affiliated with a larger institution supporting their operations.
The organization will designate one fundraising professional to receive the benefits offered in this membership category. The membership may be transferred to another individual if the original member leaves the organization. Must subscribe to the AFP Code of Ethical Standards and promote the Donor Bill of Rights. Limit one membership per organization. Nonprofit Organizational members in good standing may vote, serve on chapter or Association committees and task forces and hold Association or chapter office. $175.00 ($120.00 plus $55.00 chapter dues).
